The representatives of the powerloom owners on Wednesday have announced to shutdown their factories for indefinite period. They also demanded of the government to provide protection to their weaving units. Thousands of members of Powerloom Workers Union and Labour Qaumi Movement held protests in favour of their demands in Ghulam Muhammadabad Colony.

Powerloom workers continued strike on the eight day on Wednesday and demanded that the Punjab government should immediately increase their salaries. A large number of women also participated in the protest. They said that conspiracy is being hatched against the workers and bogus cases are also being registered against them. Addressing the protest meeting, the labour leaders demanded the powerloom workers and their families are facing severe problems due to price hike. back
